Richard Lainhart (1953-2011) was an award-winning composer, performer and filmmaker based in New York. He studied composition and electronic music techniques with Joel Chadabe, a pioneer of electronic music. Richard’s compositions have been performed in the US, England, Sweden, Germany, Australia, and Japan. Recordings of his music have appeared on the Periodic Music, Vacant Lot, XI Records, ExOvo, Important and Airglow Music labels and are distributed online via MusicZeit and Bandcamp. Since childhood, Richard was interested in natural processes like waves, flames and clouds, in harmonics and harmony, and in creative interactions with machines, using them as compositional methods to present sounds that are as beautiful as he could make them. www.otownmedia.com/RichardLainhart
Lucio Menegon is a guitarist, composer, collaborator and sonic
artist. His work ranges from avant garde improvisation to melodic song and film soundtrack composition. With general disregard for genre, Lucio freely mingles angular riffs, subtle sounds and sheer noise to creatively combine the interesting and appropriate. He has appeared on over 50 releases and performed all around the globe, from the Sundance Film Festival to the Sound Emissions Experimental Festival in Beijing China.
“Abandoned Garden” is a sonic snapshot of the collaborative process Richard and I began in late 2010 after several inspired improvised performances together in NYC. We met in Richard’s studio three times over the following six months in order to develop and document this
dialog, beginning each piece without any conceptualized ideas and
exploring a completely free form of soundscape improvisation.
First released in 2013 on vinyl by Rubber City Noise out of Akron OH (sold out).
